The ASICS Solution Speed FF 4 Clay is a fast, low profile court shoe on a clay pattern outsole, and the grey and blue colourway is the understated one. We recommend it to players who cover a lot of ground at the net and want a lighter shoe than a Gel-Resolution, and the neutral grey pairs with almost any kit.
The midsole is FlyteFoam, which ASICS says is roughly 35 per cent lighter than an industry standard midsole material, with a SPEEDTRUSS TPU insert through the midfoot for torsional support when you sprint and cut. The upper is a seamless mesh that wraps the foot, with TPU reinforcements on the lateral side for support in sideways movement, a padded tongue and collar, a rigid heel cup, and a removable Ortholite insole. PGUARD rubber protects the forefoot from drag. The outsole is a full herringbone in non marking rubber, designed for clay, which is the pattern padel players want because it grips on sand dressed turf and still lets you slide into a shot. Tennis Warehouse lists the weight at 339 g in a US 9.5.
This is a speed shoe rather than a stability shoe, so if you are heavier on your feet or need more lateral hold, look at the Gel-Resolution X Padel instead. Call into the shop in Aintree and try both back to back.
